SI Joint Dysfunction


Sacro-iliac (SI) Joint Dysfunction is refers to abnormal movement or inflammation of the sacroiliac joint, which connects the sacrum (the triangular bone at the base of the spine) to the iliac bones (the pelvis). This condition can cause pain in the lower back, buttocks, or legs, often mimicking sciatica or a herniated disc.

These injections consist of administering long-acting steroid medication close to the pain generator. It is especially beneficial for a patient suffering from back and/or leg pain.
Nerve blocks of branches from the sacral exiting nerve roots provide excellent pain relief when they are the source of the pain. A local anesthetic with or without a steroid medication is injected to provide pain relief.
SI Joint Fusion is a minimally invasive procedure which provides excellent pain relief when they are the source of the pain. A small distracting implant is inserted to provide pain relief. The joint can be subjected to compression with screw insertion also.
Ablation of nerve branches from the sacral exiting nerve roots provide excellent pain relief when they are the source of the pain.. A small probe is inserted to ablate using radiofrequency generator to provide pain relief.
