Opiate Addiction Counselor & AcuDetox Provider
Outpatient treatment programs are the best setting for ongoing counseling to manage chronic pain. For people fighting opiate dependence and addiction, slow detoxification in a controlled environment with periodic counseling is only the beginning of a long-term battle against craving and relapse.
Counseling is an integral and essential part of drug dependence treatment. Cognitive behavioral therapy, family counseling, and many other therapy approaches help patients to recover from opioid dependence and addiction. Psychotherapy can also help in identifying and treating many the other mental health conditions that often contribute to prescription drug abuse.
Opioid addiction is more than a physical dependence on drugs. Even after weaning down or detox, with physical dependence cured, most patients with opiate addiction and dependence history are at high risk for relapse. Psychological and social factors are often powerful stimuli for prescription drug abuse relapse. Prescription drug abuse counseling helps addicts escape craving and learn to cope with life without using drugs.
While any counseling therapy for drug abuse treatment is better than none, one-on-one individual therapy, offered in our practice in an integrated multidisciplinary fashion, provides a good chance for recovery. Individual therapy is also helpful in cases where patients are suffering from dual diagnosis: coexisting depression, bipolar disorder, or other significant mental health conditions that requires treatment in its own merit, separate from the opioid addiction.
