Dr. Gonzalez-Cota
Dr.
Alan Gonzalez Cota is a member of the American Society
Anesthesiologists with subspecialty training in Interventional Pain
Medicine.
He believes that pain relief is not possible without
addressing the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels of the
body to maintain wellness. At the Comprehensive Spine Center, he can
interact with his patients and team to provide traditional western
medicine techniques in combination with alternative medicine for
patients in chronic pain.
His
career in pain medicine started back in 2005 as a fellow research
scientist at the Anesthesia lab of the University of California in San
Diego, under mentorship of Dr. Tony Yaksh (2005-06). He then completed
his Surgery Internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor
(2006-07). He graduated from the University of Michigan, completing his
residency in Anesthesiology and receiving the Peter J. Cohen award
(2007-10), and undergoing subspecialty training in Interventional Pain
Medicine (2010-11). He has been funded by the Medical Innovation Grant
of the University of Michigan (2010-11). He has received national
awards, including the 2009 Foundation for Anesthesia Research and

Anesthesiologists (2009), the Best of Scientific Meeting Award of the
American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA, 2009),
